B.S. of Visual Communication Design
Portfolio
My name is Francisco Bui. I am an undergraduate student studying Visual Communications at San Francisco State University. I want to implement my Design skills for interactive media utilizing motion graphics and interfaces, to garner attention on Mobile and Web devices. Outside of solving User Experience or Interface problems, I have created animations and game designs. My end goal is to create a new reality or immersion in digital media through design for the user. By doing so, I will help others be inspired to do the same. I have also lead and collaborated on community events, communicating with people in real life and online, and creating infographics to educate individuals about topics like cooking international foods and animation.
Exploding Egg in a Pot
The final project features a very bright explosion of an egg in front of a small fire inside a stone pot. The egg has a white texture and was broken apart by the cell fracture tool and blown away by an outgoing force, which expands the still yellow bright yolk in the middle. The fire has red/orange particles flying off a flat rectangle and given small lights on the base to recreate the light that emits from the flames. Finally, the pot was created by molding cylinders and given a stone-like texture emphasizing the lights and encapsulates both the fire and the egg.
User guide to the 12 Principles of Animation
This prototype shows the 12 Principles of Animation, written by Ollie Johnston and Frank Thomas. In Interactive Design, we are not shown specifics on making fluid animations, yet shown how to do micro-interactions or game designing. This quick guide aims to remedy this problem with an easy-to-navigate interface, featuring each principle with a live animation example, along with a coherent description. For those studying animation, it could be a guide for their work.
Breast Cancer Survival Poster
This poster showcases the racial differences in breast cancer survival throughout the different states in the United States. There is a substantial difference between the Black and White women due to the differences in who would be able to access advanced health care. This poster shows awareness of this problem, including data between different states and the United States as a whole and the large gap between those who survive Breast Cancer or not.
