Alexander Hernandez

B.S. in Industrial Design
Portfolio

Hello! My name is Alexander and I am a graduate industrial designer at San Francisco State University. Born and raised in southern California, moving to San Francisco for school was always my plan, but studying design was not. During my time here only two of of my four years has been spent fully learning and practicing design. I believe that in order to be a good designer, one must be a good person first. This is important to me as I want my designs to be ethical and never just designing for myself. My work consists of minimal graphic design elements while a focus on sustainability and the minor details shows in my projects. I take visual language seriously and make sure that my projects are presented beautifully and professional so that my work is not undermined. Apart from design, some of my favorite things to do is watch films, brew coffee 24/7 or sit down and put on a music record.

Luna

Luna is a ring design that takes inspiration from the moon’s organic shapes. Using simple shapes and forms, the ring design is not so much for flashy wear but more of a subtle addition to one’s hand. Luna was designed to be durable and smooth with 3 different material selections.

Orbit

The Orbit bottle opener is a niche product designed to be a functional fidget toy. The idea originated from a gyroscope and the way we visualize space orbits, hence the name. Ideally, Orbit would be made from aluminum consisting of 5 parts.

Audio Technica “LP70X” redesign

This Audio-Technica redesign was made due top the underwhelming look and feel from the original model. Keeping all the original technical features, this design focuses on bringing in recyclable materials paired with metal. The main focus was to create a record player that caught one’s eye and repeatedly brought them back to admire.
