Yeji Park

B.S. in Visual Communication Design

My name is Yeji Park, a student currently studying Visual Communication at SanFrancisco State University. I have been learning diversity in visual design fields, suchas graphic design, programming, drawing, coloring, and design history. To become avisual designer, I believe I should interact in every way with what I see, feel, andappreciate. With inspirational ideas coming through every circumstance in my life, I tryto reflect them and picture down in my project. In addition to my pursuit of design is toattempt with unrestricted methods and adapting various perspectives in creating things. With an open mindset and courage, I give myself the ability to explore and challenge thedesign process to make thoughtful design solutions happen.

Crystal Goblet / Fuck Content booklet

The goal of this project is to portray the two polarized essays, The Crystal Goblet by Beatrice Warde and The Fuck Content by Micheal Rock. Beatrice Warde points out the importance of reliability, the true beauty of legibility in typeface. The Fuck Content by Michael Rock emphasizes the message with graphical vibes and visual communication. Based on two essays’ characters, I tried to create depth, line, color, form, direction to show visual hierarchy between graphics and written contents.

Tazo Tea Box Design

This project was to create a Tazo tea package. While researching a tazo brand, I was inspired by Tazo’s lively and bright characteristic brand image. I decided to make my own design packaging in a bright, lively and refreshing tone. I chose an organic photo of the main ingredient which is lotus, peach and orange for the front side to make the package look fresh and organic. I chose a watercolor-like palette background to emphasize the mood of the package. With few representative adjectives on the side of the package, this amplifies the concept of tea, how it would taste and feel like.

Mapping Invisible

Being at home for most of the days during the pandemic, I wanted to figure out any relations between my habitual activities and my mood of the day. I noticed my mood for each day was somehow habitual. I tracked the data of the time I went to bed, the time spent on workouts, and how my mood changes. This study showed that workout during the day and sleep earlier than midnight helped my mood more energized. Color choices are yellow, green and orange to display the imagery of energy. I chose a black background since the main color palette is better vivid in the darkness than a bright background. With the gradient color palette, I intended to show energy wavelength. I chose my time data settings into circles and variables into arrows as a figure of a clock to give an idea that this is a time-based project. The typeface I applied is the Ariel which is clear in the smaller size of the poster and well blends into the project graphics.
