I’m Miwa, an SFSU student working toward a B.S. in Visual Communication Design. A passion for critical thinking and an interest in human behavior led me to pursue design. When designing, I take the empathetic approach and consider how each design decision I make can alter the viewer’s perception of my work. When I’m not working on a design project, I enjoy relaxing picnics on the beach and gaming with my friends.

GO! Power Bar

GO! Power Bar is a breakfast energy bar created for a persona randomly assigned to us in DES324. As my persona, Dario, was a young, athletic, college student, I went for a sporty, energetic design using lighting bolts and a subtle halftone pattern.

No More Plastic in the Ocean

The plastic floating in our oceans is ever-growing, and it feels as though the effort of the many initiatives to reduce it have been futile. My goal was to create posters that educates and encourages people, specifically young adults, who are starting to venture out and become independent and are developing their own lifestyle habits, to take more environmentally conscious steps in the future. These are posters intended to be displayed in public spaces like bus stops, where the target demographic is most like to see, stop, and read it. There are the main eye-catching statements of “No More Plastic in the Ocean” and ‘There’s Plastic in Your Food,” supplemented with relevant facts that may encourage the viewer to take steps to improve their waste disposal habits.
