B.S. of Visual Communication Design
Portfolio
Melody Rosado is a student of Visual Communications Design at San Francisco State University. Grid systems, typographical hierarchy, and engaging contrasting elements are instrumental to her design work. Finding harmony and balance through symmetry and asymmetry is a visual tactic she enjoys exploring. Visual identity and branding with impact are the focus of her current design work. She has a disciplined approach to researching and pioneering solutions to fully articulate her clients’ narratives for their brand. Translating ideas into clear writing and impactful design allows her to gain trust and maintain accountability through actionable strategies.
Poster: Golden Gate Park Events
For this event poster, Franklin Gothic typeface created a beautiful contrast of weights that distinguished its informational hierarchy. As an event poster, I wanted to ensure locations, dates, and costs were the most prominent figures from a distance. Golden Gate Park’s 150th-anniversary logo inspired its color palette. The event sites are placed in the grassy park area from the top left to the bottom right section to highlight how each contains multiple events. In the lime green meadow, four locations are stagnated because they host single events.
Typophoto Book Cover | The Four Agreements
The Four Agreements, written by Don Miguel Ruiz, is a self-help book that offers a code of conduct based on ancient Toltec wisdom and advocates freedom from self-limiting beliefs that may cause suffering and limitation in a person’s life. Revision of the book cover explores the integration of photography and typography. Growth is characterized by the transitional elements of soil, seeds, and grass. The dead leaves stage the final form on the transitional spectrum and provide asymmetric balance to the composition.
Mobile App | SFSU Student Center
The SFSU Student Center website does not have a mobile app that efficiently views the Degree Progress Report. The solution was to design a mobile app where students can immediately view their class schedule, GPA, money owed, and enrollment dates on their home screen. Students can efficiently add and identify what classes and sections need to be completed when viewing their Degree Progress Report.
